About us - our school

A small school with great students and teachers. Maklár is situated next to the city of Eger, but our kids are mainly from Maklár and Nagytálya, which is nearby the village. Recently there are more and more people coming from other places to study here.


The English language is a significant part of our education program, our students can learn this foreign language five times a week.

We have won the title'Outstanding Achievement School' twice already. According to the datas during the 2015 and 2017 competency survey we have been amoung the school which has developed the best thanks to the work of their teachers.

We have World famous rope skippers. We can cheer for the every year when they take part in the European or the World Championsips. This club was founded almost 30 years ago and we can say that this team has put Maklár into the map, since they come home every time with medals, first places and World Records.

We also got the title 'Great school for traffic education'. At the beginning of the 2000's we have started the traffic education as a part of the school activities. Since 2008 our students take part successfully in every local the regional competition. For all these effort our school has gained this very honourable title and we were able to build a practice field.

In 2017 we became a 'Microsoft Innovative School'. The leaders of the institutes taking part in this program go to seminars every months to meet with specialists of the Microsoft to see how they can help with the strategy of the school. There is also a chance to go and see other school and learn from each other's digital developement.

Altough we are a small school, a few of our students reached the very prestigieous title 'Great student - Great sportsman of Hungary'

Hortobágyi Tamás Cirill was also a student of our school, who became a prelate in Pannonhalma. He spent his childhood in Maklár and Nagytálya with his family and went to the local school of Maklár between 1965 and 1973. After he countined his studies in Pannonhalma, where he finished in 1977 and became a priest in the same year.

Kovács Márton was also a student in our school in 2013 who received a Junior Prima Award.
